About Youth Ministry
Making disciples should be the ultimate goal of youth ministry. Students must be able to develop their own faith and commitment to God so that they may become life-long followers of Christ. We believe this is done through an intentional, purposeful process, not haphazardly. Every event or program must be evaluated on its ability to form students into disciples.
This process should include, but is not limited to, a deepening faith in God,a growing love for others, and an increasing desire to serve the world. In Galatians, Paul says that what really matters in a Christian’s life is “faith working through love” (Gal. 5:6b). We believe that this should be the life for which we strive and which we encourage our teenagers to follow. There is a time and place for students to have fun and goof off. They need to be able to express themselves genuinely and become the people God intends for them to be.
They need leaders who are willing to get on their knees and serve them, who will model the servant-leadership of Christ to them, and who will inspire them to pursue God with all their heart. Teenagers need to be able to pinpoint and develop their spiritual gifts in order to serve the church immediately. Most importantly, they need to experience the love of God in theirown lives which should flow from the people around them.
